The NIGA reports in An Analysis of the Economic Impact of Indian Gaming in 2005 (2005, ) that more than twenty-two million Americans visited tribal gaming facilities in 2005, generating $22.6 billion in gross revenue from gaming and an additional $2.7 billion in gross revenue from hospitality and entertainment services related to gaming. Furthermore, 225 tribes ran 423 gaming enterprises in 2007. Census Bureau (April 30, 2008, ), the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA) indicates that in 2007 there were 562 federally recognized tribes in the United States.
Therefore, in 2007 Native American casinos took in 43% of total casino revenues, the same percentage as in 2005.Īccording to the U.S. (See Figure 5.1.)
